Field Performance Study of Electronic Stability Control System Effectiveness in Us Fatal Crashes
نویسنده
چکیده
Recent US field data was used to evaluate the effectiveness of Electronic Stability Control (ESC) systems in reducing fatal crashes. Light vehicles with and without ESC systems were compared through comprehensive statistical analysis, including logistic regression and contingency analyses, to address ESC effectiveness in singleand multiple-vehicle, rollover and nonrollover crashes. Analyses controlled for key driver, vehicular, and environmental factors. Results indicate ESC systems are highly effective for rollovers in which the rollover is the first harmful event, but less effective for other rollovers and not effective for reducing fatal nonrollover crashes.

The Effectiveness of Esc (electronic Stability Control) in Reducing Real Life Crashes and Injuries
ESC (Electronic Stability Control) was introduced on the mass market in 1998. Since then, several studies showing the positive effects of ESC has been presented. In this study, data from crashes occurring in Sweden during 1998 to 2004 were used to evaluate the effectiveness of ESC on real life crashes. To control for exposure, induced exposure methods were used, where ESC-sensitive to ESC-insen...
متن کاملEffect of electronic stability control on automobile crash risk.
Per vehicle crash involvement rates were compared for otherwise identical vehicle models with and without electronic stability control (ESC) systems. ESC was found to affect single-vehicle crashes to a greater extent than multiple-vehicle crashes, and crashes with fatal injuries to a greater extent than less severe crashes. Based on all police-reported crashes in 7 states over 2 years, ESC redu...

متن کاملThe effects of studded tires on fatal crashes with passenger cars and the benefits of electronic stability control (ESC) in Swedish winter driving.
This study set out to examine the effects of studded tires on fatal crashes on roads covered with ice or snow in Sweden and also to investigate the extra benefits of electronic stability control (ESC) during the winter months. Two different studies are presented in this paper. Both studies used an induced exposure approach. In the main study, 369 in-depth studies of fatal crashes with passenger...
متن کاملType-2 Fuzzy Braking-Torque Electronic Stability Control for Four-Wheel Independent Drive Electric Vehicles
The electronic stability control (ESC) system is one of the most important active safety systems in vehicles. Here, we intend to improve the Electronic stability of four in-wheel motor drive electric vehicles. We will design an electronic stability control system based on Type-2 fuzzy logic controller. Since, Type-2 fuzzy controller has uncertainty in input interval furthermore of output fuzzin...
